However, these sorts of things carry more weight amongst the &#039;common Muslims&#039; when they come from scholars who are not in any way associated with the Saudi state.  It is very easy otherwise for apologists for al-Qaeda and so on to simply denounce those other scholars a &#039;government scholars&#039;.</description>
