Their website is now up. There isn’t a great deal of information there yet but it does list the members of the various state councils and describes some of their activities to date.

Why isn’t Sheikh Omran on that site? Isn’t he one of the Australian imams? Or is he is too “controversial”?
There is a Mahmoud Omran if you click on WA, maybe that’s supposed to be Mohamed Omran as he did reside in Perth for some time
as far as i am aware, every Sheikh was invited to be part of ANIC and are all still able to be part of the council. If there is a Sheikh that is not on the council, than it is their choice.
That is great news, hopefully they can move forward and grow, and truly represent Australian Muslims. Not disappear into the shadows.
Does anyone know if Imam Afroz Ali is a member? What are the criteria for membership, anyway?
His name does not seem to be up there in NSW.
MEMBERSHIP
Membership is open to all qualified Imams who are active in the affairs of the Muslim community.
does this now mean that we will all have eid on the same day this year???? what??? no?? i thought so..
After speaking to some of the council members of ANIC, they advised me that insha’Allah next year they will do their best to unite the Muslims on the issue of Ramadan and Eid.
The positive thing is, on that board you have those who only follow the moon sighting and others you use calculations. Now if a decision is made on that board it will then be up to all of us to either accept it and somewhat have a unified effort starting Ramadan and celebrating Eid on the same days, or reject it and keep doing things the way they are.
I ask Allah to bring goodness from this!
There are several valid opinions re determining the start and end of Islamic months. Why force conformity on people when we don’t want it?
