Greens councillor on Saudi tourism industry

It’s been a while since we had some comic relief so here’s Saeed Khan, Marrickville Greens councillor and vice chairman of the Ethnic Communities Council of New South Wales, explaining the real reason why the Saudis have been building mosques around the world:

If Muslims around the world are to become free thinking, progressive and engaged, the mega business of Hajj (pilgrimage) in Mecca will be in trouble. It is no surprise that many mosques and religious schools in Australia and around the world have been, and continue to be, funded by Saudis.

Ah yes, of course. The promotion of the pilgrimage to Mecca as one of the five pillars of Islam is really all just part of a nefarious plan by the wily Saudis to protect their tourism industry.

I think the Saudis also have their dirty hand in promoting the shahada and prayers as well… if Muslims just stopped being Muslims, we will all be better off. Great pro-regressive idea Saeed!

Yes it IS a conspiracy!

The Saudis are also deeply involved in poisoning us via Fluoridated water! You can hear there evil plots when you put on my specially designed tin-foil-hat. Only U.S. 29.99, act before midnight tonight and I’ll toss in a free copy of “Protocols of the Elders of Zion.” Operators are standing by at 1-888-IMANUTTER

Mr Khan’s little article should carry some sort of warning as the flawed rantings of an ignorant fool. But then it mentions that he’s a member of the Greens so I guess it already does.

It is silly, but doesn’t it disturb Muslims that REPEAT pilgrimages are encouraged? You only need to make the haj once, don’t you? Surely charity would be a better place to put the monery you spend on repeating the Haj.

Antish, you have managed to astonish me by saying something that isn’t completely crap.

Are you feeling OK? Was it something you ate?

Mind you what you said is not interesting, new or thoughtful, but I am happy with baby steps.

Saeed’s urdu poetry highlights his lack of insight, and is useful for those of us who do not get enough fibre in our diets.

Where he sees a majestic flowing river, we seen a rivulet of urine

surely the unkindest cut of all: to have one’s urdu poetry attacked by a punjabi.

T cell, have you no mercy?

Sorry, but repeat pilgrimages are encouraged? By who, the Saudis? Currently anyone going for pilgrimage (Hajj) is issued a visa every five (5) years.
Hardly repetitious.

Here is a photo of Saeed at a rally. It’s good to see he cares about the issues that are most important to Muslims.
