The government has announced the 1,000 Australians [pdf] chosen to attend Prime Minister Kevin Rudd’s Talkfest 2020 next month. Unfortunately, nobody from Austrolabe was invited so our plans to produce an Australian version of the Don’t Tase Me, Bro video will have to wait until a later date.
Anyway, Catallaxy, Tim Blair, Currency Lad and Larvatus Prodeo discuss some of the selections.

Waleed Aly. Cool.
There are quite a few Muslim names, alhamdulillah, including Waleed and also Muhammad Abdalla who did a wonderful job at the Australia Deliberates conference.
We have so much to offer to contribute to Australian life, and even though we only make up 2% odd of Australians, we will be more than ably represented insha’Allah!
Rudd is surrounding himself with luvvies so that he can use this forum to reinvent himself and shake off the pre-election promise of being a younger version of the socially and fiscally conservative Howard. He’ll say that the people have spoken and he must change his ways.
