Update on Camden Islamic School:

Town moves against Islamic school

With its lace curtain bungalows and steepled Anglican church, the once tranquil town of Camden in New South Wales seems the most improbable of settings for a row that combines race and religion.

Sheikh Haron – do you think it would be possible to convince him that his take on the ‘Sunrise’ quote (on every bloody page of his website) is wildly mistaken? If not, why not? Because he’s a few snags short of a barbie or for cultural reasons?

He’s obviously insane.

Does anyone know of a good site about Islamic finance and investing?

The thick sheikh is not only barking mad, he appears to be a drag queen:

I want to talk about the elephant in the room; Salaam cafe (on SBS and streaming on the internet).

It is complete crap, and the presenters appear to be caught up in the “wonderfulness of it all” don’t realize how absurd they look.

Humor is a unforgiving mistress. There is nothing more cringe-worthy then watching unfunny comedy, except perhaps when the comedians think they are a riot and are much taken by their own cleverness.

This has spilled over into their weblog, which plagued by stilted writing has the verve of a health & safety report. The over-muscled prose hangs like a carcass over the malnourished grammatical skeleton.

” It’s safe to assume the exhibition must have touched on controversial questions of politics – as any exhibition centred on a seemingly intractable, long-term conflict would. And depending on where your political sympathies lie, you’d either be ardently supportive of it, or vehemently opposed. If the council doesn’t want to dump itself into a political minefield, that’s fine, too”

SBS should attach a warning that one should not operate heavy machinery or drive a car after reading this verbiage.

As should you:

“The over-muscled prose hangs like a carcass over the malnourished grammatical skeleton.”

I’m guessing you were going funny…?

I was being ironic.

Yeah, totally didn’t get that. Too many adjectives perhaps.

I actually think Salam Cafe isn’t too bad. Some of the segments haven’t really hit the mark, but overall they’re doing a good job.

If one thinks calling Allah the “big guy”, mocking the sunnah and likening salat to a yoga routine is funny, then I suppose it’s wonderful.

Now THAT’S a real talk show!

I don’t see what wonderful has to do with it. I never said it was the most amazing show ever recorded. But to say it’s completely humourless is unfair.

And you seem to remember an awful lot about a show you despise. I wouldn’t be surprised if you watch it just to see what else offends you. So typical of Muslims here. Only approve of something that is exactly in line with their beliefs.

Is it scary how well I know you?

Condi Rice at her most eloquent.

Senator Obama’s achievement drew praise from a Republican, Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice, the highest-ranking black person in President George W Bush’s cabinet.

“It’s a country that has overcome many, many, now years, decades of, actually a couple of centuries, of trying to make good on its principles,” Rice said.

“And I think that what we’re seeing is, an extraordinary expression of the fact that ‘we the people’ is beginning to mean all of us,” Rice said, a reference to the opening line of the US Constitution.

Well, she’s never been the most articulate person. I seem to recall she referred to Dubbya as her husband in one monumental slip-up some years back, which is especially strange because she doesn’t have one. Perhaps her mind and her mouth are out of sync.
