		<description>It makes sense.  The Soviets were clearly backing the Iranians, Syrians and Iraqis with money, weapons and propaganda.  Meanwhile, Saudi Wahabiism was seen by the West as being an effective ideological bulwark to communist/socialist expansionism in the Middle East.</description>
